Father Sinclair was born in Anderson Co., Tenn., in 1799, removed to McCoupin Co., Ill., in 1838, where he lived until 1858, when he removed to California, where he remained ten or eleven years. From thence he came to Kansas in 1861 and settled in the vicinity of La Cygne. His history since his settlement here, as related by those who have been best acquainted with him, is that of a thoroughly honest, and straight forward man. Though suffering greatly during his sickness, he was uniformly patient, and bore his affliction with heroic uncomplaint. As he neared the boundaries of earthly life, he was not afraid to pass into the shades of death. For he could say, "though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for thou art with me, thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me."
