Virginia Crow Acors, 60, of Spotsylvania County died Tuesday Oct. 12, 2010, at Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center. The daughter of the late Freddie D. Crow Jr. and Iva Jett Crow, Mrs. Acors was a 1968 graduate of Spotsylvania High School, a graduate of Mary Washington College, and had a master's degree from the University of Virginia. Mrs. Acors was a retired teacher with Spotsylvania County Schools, last serving at Lee Hill Elementary for almost 15 years. After retiring, she was a volunteer reader at Berkeley Elementary and did private tutoring. She also wrote and published "Thoughts of a Country Girl" in 2008--a collection of short stories based on her life. She was a member of Wallers Baptist Church for almost 40 years, where she worked with the youth, RA's, vacation Bible school, and countless others. She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Vernon Acors; her three sons, Butch Acors and his wife, Jen, of Partlow, Tim Acors and his wife, Valarie, of Fredericksburg, and Andy Acors and his wife, Melissa, of Partlow; her four grandchildren, Gabby Acors, Andrew Acors Jr., Benjamin Acors and Madilynn Acors; her two sisters, Teri Lee and Debbie Glaum, both of Fredericksburg; and several nieces and nephews. A service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 15, at Wallers Baptist Church, with the Rev. James Graham and the Rev. David Hockney Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Wallers Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 14, at Wallers Baptist Church in Partlow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in her name may be made to the American Diabetes Association, Box 11454, Alexandria, Va. 22312, or to the American Heart Association, Memorial Processing Center, Box 5216, Glen Allen, Va. 23058.
