Ovea "Banjo" Elkins, 93, of Fayetteville, died Sunday, September 5, 1999 in a Fayetteville nursing home. He was born November 13, 1905 in Madison County, the son of Elisha Dillard and Sarah Sally Boyd Elkins. Mr. Elkins worked as a Restaurant Chef, was a lifelong resident of Northwest Arkansas, and was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church.
Survivors include: two step-daughters, Robbie Cook of Houston, Texas and Darlena Rowland of Anniston, Alabama; one sister, Kay Cole of Fayetteville; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Two sisters and five brothers preceded his in death.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 8 at Fairview Memorial Gardens in Fayetteville with Rev. Phil Misenheimer officiating.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Nelson's Funeral Home in Fayetteville.
