He died Thursday, May 27, 2010, at Good Samaritan Society in Estherville.
Orval Burdette Taylor, the son of Jake and Retta (Solmonson) Taylor, was born June 7, 1914, in Gruver.
He received his education in rural Emmet County schools.
On Oct. 9, 1936, Orval was united in marriage to Della Erickson. The couple made their home in Estherville where they raised their family and Orval did construction work for several years. Later he went to work for John Morrell and Company where he remained until his retirement. In his leisure time he enjoyed golfing, wintering in Texas and spending time at the family cottage in Spirit Lake.
He was a member of Estherville Lutheran Church.
Left to cherish Orval's memory are his wife, Della, of Estherville; his children, Gary Taylor and his wife, Marcie, Sandy Sunde and her husband, Verlyn, and Cheryl Friesner and her husband, Larry, all of Estherville and Sue Graettinger and her husband, Joe, of Graettinger; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding Orval in death were one great-great-grandson, Alejandro; his parents; two brothers, Dale and Evan and sister, Vivian.
