Mrs. Mary Hayes Jones fell asleep in Jesus November 10th at her home, "Blenheim Cottage", Braddock Heights, Maryland, aged eighty years.
Mrs. Jones was a charter member and life historian of E.V. White Chapter, U.D.C. and is worthy of special recognition and appreciation, not oly for her devotion to the Cause of the South but for her labors in the accumulation of materials and the preservation and diffusion of historic truth. She was also a member of the Monocacy Confederate Memorial Association having been instrumental in organizing that group on June 3, 1907.
The strong spiritual side of her nature is evident in that a number of years ago she was made "Chaplain for Life' of the Maryland Division of the Daughters of the Confederacy, besides serving on several committees in the General Organization; truly her love and loyalty to the Confederate Cause entered into the very fiber of her life. While we shall miss her presence and her ever-responsive personality, character survives, goodness lives, and love is immortal.
Beside her husband she is resting in beautiful Monocacy Cemetery in the shadow of the Memorial Chapel which is a monument to her love for the U.D.C. There is no death for such a life and her beautiful service will live eternally in that Better Land.

A thousand sweet memories are holding them fast,
To the places they blessed with their presence and love."

The funeral of Mary Hays Jones took place from her home, at Braddock Heights, Tuesday afternoon at 1.30 o'clock. Rev. Dr. Douglass Hooff officiated. Mrs. J. T. Pyles and F. B. Sappinton, Jr., sang "My Faith Looks Up To Thee." The pallbearers were nephews of the deceased, Maurice J. Dade, Harvey J. White, Dr. Elijah B. White, Dr. Leonard L. Hays, and F. Leonard Hays. Interment Monocacy cemetery in Beallsville, Montgomery County. M. R. Etchison and funeral directors.
