John Schmitz Of Eldorado Is Dead At 66
Veteran Of World War I Is Heart Attack Victim; Woodhull Services
John G. Schmitz, 66, of Eldorado, R,1, died unexpectedly Monday of a heart attack. He was born on June 17. 1894, at Johnsburg, the son of Mathias and Mary Catherine Frein Schmitz.
Mr. Schmitz was a member of St. Mary's church at Eldorado and also its Holy Name society. He served with the armed forces in World War I and was active in the American Legion.
In 1924 he moved to a farm at Eldorado. Since 1938 he was employed at the Rudolph Brothers Implement and Hardware at Eldorado.
On Jan.20,1920, Mr. Schmitz was married to Frances Casper at Johnsburg.
Survivors are the widow; two sons, Gustave Schmitz, city, John Schmitz, Jr., Eldorado; two daughters, Mrs. Robert Kraus, North Fond du Lac; and Mrs. John Havey, city; three brothers, Gregor Schmitz, city, Ambrose Schmitz, Marytown, and Henry Schmitz, Marytown; two sisters, Mrs. Casper Mauer, Eldorado, and Mrs. Robert Simon, city; and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by five sisters and two brothers.
Services will be on Thursday at 9:30 am. at the. Zacherl Funeral home and at 10 a.m. at St. John's church at Woodhull, the Rev. John Knotek officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary!s cemetery at Eldorado.
The body will lie in state at the funeral home after 2 p.m. on Wednesday
