St. Patrick's Services Set For Resident

Gregory A. Schmitz, of
195 Marquette St., retired farmer and custodian at St. Patrick's Church, died at 7:10 p.m. Saturday at St. Agnes Hospital following a brief illness. Born March 9, 1889, in the Town of Empire, he was the son of Mathias and Maria Catherine Frein Schmitz. He married Julia Freund on Oct. 25, 1911, in Johnsburg. Mr. Schmitz farmed for many years in the Lamartine area and following his move to Fond du Lac was custodian at St. Patrick's Church and school for 25 years retiring in 1963.He was a member of the church and the Holy Name Society. Survivors include his widow; two daughters, Mrs. Chester Flanagan of Argyle and Mrs. Lloyd Jagdfeld of the city; one son, Raymond N.,city; 13 grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Ida Simon, city; and two brothers, Henry of Charlesburg and Ambrose of Marytown. He was preceded in death by three brothers and six sisters. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Zacherl Funeral Home and 11 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. The body is in state at funeral home.

Funeral services for Gregory A. Schmitz, who died Saturday, were held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Zacherl Funeral Home and 11 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church.

A Solemn Requiem High Mass was celebrated with Rev. Joseph Beres, celebrant, Rev. Joseph Cunningham, deacon, and Rev. Paul Wittermann, subdeacon. Rev. Gerald Schmitz was master of ceremonies. Seated in the sanctuary was Rev. Joseph Morissette, O.M.I., and Rev. Donald Elverman.

Pallbearers were grandsons, John Flanagan, Joseph Flanagan, Robert Flanagan, David Schmitz, James Jagdfeld and Greg Jagdfeld. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery.
