"Death of Dr. Morrison.—Dr. Morrison, a young and prominent physician of Rockbridge county, died at Brownsburg on Sunday of last week.— He was, until the disease which terminated his life overtook him, rapidly rising to eminence in his profession. He was a brother-in-law of Rev. Dr. Dabney and Dr. Ben. Smith of the Union Theological Seminary, and a grandson of Mary Moore, the "Captive of Abb's Valley." "Stallion for Sale. _ WILL BE SOLD at public auction on Monday, Jane 3rd, " Tom Telagraph" who was lately the property of Dr. R. H. Morrison, dec'd. He will be sold subject to contracts made for the season, and for which purchaser will receive the remuneration entirely. May 31." Published in the Lexington Gazette, Vol 9, #23, dated 31 May 1878.
On the 1880 Richmond, Henrico, Virginia census, his widowed wife was listed as Mage White, 28 with Zac W Morrison, 9; James Morrison, 7 and Robt. Morrison, 5. They were living with her widowed mother Eliza Jane White, 56 and some siblings, Mattie, Elizabeth Josephine, Inde, Alfred M and Glasgow W. Mattie was born in Mississippi and the kids in Virginia.
