George was a handsome young man with beautiful blue eyes. He was the eldest child of William and Anna Augusta Campbell, and was the first in his family to graduate from high school and go on to college. He came back to help on the family farm, and to look after his half-brother, Joe, who had cerebral palsy and could not run the farm by himself.

George never married, and moved into the Masonic home in Wichita in his later years, as did his brother.
