Virginia Lee Bliss, 95, of Princeville died Friday, Dec. 31, 2010, at Heartland Health Care Center, Henry.

She was born Nov. 25, 1915, in Princeville, the daughter of Dr. Earl E. and Lucille Richey Henson. Virginia married John Marvin Bliss on Feb. 10, 1934, in Princeville. He preceded her in death on Oct. 2, 1990, in Peoria.

Also preceding her in death were her parents; one sister, Gwendolyn Combs; and one great-granddaughter.

Surviving are two sons, John (Karen) Bliss and Robert (Karen) Bliss, both of Princeville; one daughter, Margie (Donald) Higgs of Rochelle, Ill.; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for many years.

Virginia and Marv were world travelers, enjoying vacations in Europe and Asia. They also enjoyed wintering for several years in Tucson, Ariz.

She was a devoted 76-year member of the Princeville United Methodist Church, where she taught Bible classes.

She was a Bible student of Ruby Thompson of the Peoria area.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2011, at Princeville United Methodist Church. The Rev. Fred Reiner will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home. Burial will be in Princeville Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to her church, Heartland Health Care Center in Henry or to the American Bible Society.
