Mr. Alvey retired from Cummins Engine Co. in 1997.
The funeral will be Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2006 at 1 p.m. at Bond-Mitchell Funeral Home in Nashville. Calling will be from 11 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be at Christiansburg Cemetery in Brown County.
Mr. Alvey was born July 30, 1950 in Brown County, the son of William Robert Alvey and Stella Gertrude Hatton Alvey.
Survivors include a daughter, Wendy and her husband Scott Bailey of Franklin; a son, Troy and his wife Shannon Alvey of Osgood; brothers, Ora and Sam Alvey, both of Brown County and Paul Alvey of Columbus; sisters, Corene Greathouse of Brown County and Nellie McQueary, Annie Purdue, Phyllis Garard and Nora Sebastain, all of Columbus; and grandchildren, Brandy and Melany Alvey.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, James Arthur and William Alvey.
