Daughter of Edwin R.Stephenson.Mr.Stephenson shot and killed Father James E.Coyle on August 11,1921.Mr.Stephenson,enraged at the fact of his daughters conversion to Catholicism,then Fr.Coyle marrying his daughter to Pedro Gussman,a Puerto Rican man,Mr.Stephenson walked up to the porch of the rectory of St.Pauls,and shot Fr.Coyle multiple times.After a nationally covered trial full of racially biased evidence,he was aquitted of the crime.Ruth moved to Chicago and married a man named C.B.Lamka.She died of pulmonary tuberculosis on March 2,1931.She is buried close to her mother,in the same cemetery as Father Coyle.Ironically,her father Edwin is buried at Forest Hill with Pedro Gussman.
