Was a farmer who owned a saw and grist mill at no. 112 in 1852. He lived at no. 103, 110 and 111 as well as above the "Falls" in Alstead, on the road from Surry to the Centre. He was six feet tall and several of his children were over six feet.

Married 8/7/1823 Sarepta Smith, dau. of Daniel Smith. Children Seraphina, Davis, Curtis Charles, James Smith, Ira S., George Hammond, Bennett, Louisa Elizabeth, Dennis.
