In early manhood George was in company of his father in the saw and grist mill at No. 112 (Surry, NH); then a farmer in Gilsum, NH where he was selectman for 4 years. Late in life he removed to S. Hadley, MA, where he died. Married June 8, 1864 Martha Ellen Cater (1845-1899).
