DEATH OF MRS. A.E. ATKINS
Effie Beals was born November 3, 1876, near Geneva, Neb., and died October 25, 1922, in Omaha following an operation.
On July 25, 1894, she was united in marriage to Arthur E. Atkins. To this union were born two children, Bernard Atkins, and Rita B. Atkins.
Besides her husband and children, there are left to mourn her untimely death, her mother, Mrs. N.S. Beals, three sisters, Mrs. J.L. Houchin, Mrs. S.W. Chambers, and Mrs. Lyle Cumberland; one brother, F.F. Beals, and a grandson Master Gerald Atkins.
At the age of seventeen, Mrs. Atkins united with the Methodist church at Geneva, and at the time of her death was a member of the Methodist church at Kearney, where the family home is. Mrs. Atkins was a woman of exceptional character and ability. She was active in the work of the Methodist church. She was a member of the Red. Cloud Order of Eastern Star, and of the Kearney W.C.T.U. She will be missed by all who knew her.
As a friend, she was always loyal and true, as a wife devoted, a mother loving, and self sacrificing, a sister sweet and cheery; a daughter beloved; she will ever be remembered as the sun-beam of the family.
The funeral was held at the E.L. Cumberland home in Geneva at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, October 28, and was conducted by Rev. R.H. Thompson.
Interment was in the Geneva cemetery.
