By the turn of the century, she lived in Clinton, Henry County, Missouri with the family of her sister, Alice.
In 1902, Annie's father was seriously injured in a street car accident. She then returned to St. Louis County and lived with her father and step-mother until his death in 1912.
Annie then moved back in with her sister and her family. They all moved to Kansas City, Missouri around 1919.
Annie was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Kansas City. She never married.
Annie's sister, Alice, died in 1941. After that, Annie lived with her niece, Mary Garrett (nee Woolfolk) Platt Richardson. Mary was Alice's daughter.
Annie broke her hip in a fall on 31 Oct 1944. She developed pneumonia 24 hours later and died at her niece's home. At the time of her death, she was 98 years, 9 months and 16 days old.
In addition to her parents and sister, Annie was preceded in death by another sister, Mary Dawson.
Annie was buried next to her parents following graveside funeral services that were held at 10 a.m. on the morning of 04 Nov 1944. Lupton Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
According to records kept by the Daughters of the American Revolution, Annie and her sisters were direct descendants of a Revolutionary War soldier.
Their mother, Mary Burton (nee Garrett) Dawson, was the daughter of Joseph H. Garrett (1784-1855) and Mary (nee Reiger) Garrett (1788-1860). Joseph H. was the son of John Garrett (1756-1836) and Mary (nee Hardin) Garrett (1760-1790).
Annie's great-grandfather, John Garrett, was born in Culpeper County, Virginia in 1756. He served as a private in the Virginia Line under Captain Pollard and Colonel Slaughter. John married Mary Hardin in 1783. He died in Scott County, Kentucky in 1836.
