Nancy Jane Kirby Yarbrough was one of twelve children born to Sarah and 'Eff' Kirby. The Kirbys had six boys and six girls. Six had brown eyes and six had blue eyes. Six were right handed and six were left handed. All twelve children were born in Johnson County with the exception of Nancy who was born while they were in Missouri (1866). Nancy was only a few months old when the family moved back to Arkansas in an Ox Wagon. (Boyer Book)
