SMITH
Adah Pearl Smith, daughter of the late Dow and Martha Blue, passed away at the Des Moines General Hospital of a heart attack on March 6, 1983, at the age of 94 years. She spent the past six years at the Altoona Care Center.
She was united in marriage to Larry Smith on April 28, 1908. To this union eight children were born, Merl of Cantril, Iowa; Millard of Rock Island, Ill.; Joe of Tampa, Fla.; Virginia Nicoletto of East Moline, Ill., Genieve Holmes of Chariton, Iowa; and Maudie Halferty and Helen Roberts, both of Des Moines.
She grew up in Russell and Chariton where she attended the First Baptist Church. After her marriage she lived on the farm and in 1938 moved back to Chariton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and daughter, Mildred, and sisters, Margaret Blue and Odessa Strain.
She is survived by three brothers, William Blue of Chariton, Ben Blue of Billings, Mont. and Edward Blue of Modesto, Calif.; and one sister, Emma Burley of Chariton.
She leaves to mourn, her children; 16 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; two step-grandsons; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 8, 1983 at 10 a.m. at the Mosher Funeral Home in Chariton. The service was conducted by Rev. Ronald Stein. Burial was in the Chariton Cemetery.
