BLUE
William R. Blue, son of Ellis Dow and Martha Eikenberry Blue, was born June 2, 1903, and passed away at the Lucas County Health Center on Aug. 17, 1989.
He was united in marriage to Pauline Pearson on Sept. 16, 1925. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Mr. Blue farmed in Lucas County most of his life. He retired from farming and moved to Chariton in 1953 and worked for the city, later for the county.
He is survived by his wife, Pauline; a son, Frederick of Noel, Mo.; daughters, Maxine Browning of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Frances Haltom of Creston; along with 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister, Emma Burley of Chariton, and two brothers, Ben Blue of Plentywood, Mont., and Edward Blue of Modesto, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, three brothers-in-law, and two sisters-in-law.
William enjoyed woodworking and made many things for friends and loved ones, which will always be treasured.
Memorial services were held Saturday, Aug. 19, 1989, at 10:30 a.m. at the Mosher Funeral Home in Chariton. The service was conducted by the Rev. John G. Bissett of the First United Methodist Church in Chariton. Burial will be in the Chariton Cemetery at a later date.
