LEWISTOWN - Augusta M. McCartney, 101, a resident of Ohesson Manor Nursing Home and formerly of 18 Knepp Avenue, Lewistown, died at 10:19 a.m. Friday, July 9, 2010, at the nursing home.
Born May 17, 1909, in Burnt Cabins, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Ada (Gifford) Bowman. Her husband, Paul McCartney, preceded her in death in 1945.
Surviving are: grandchildren Michael McCartney and wife Kathy, and Kitty Walters and husband Wade; three great-grandsons; a great-great-grandson and a daughter-in-law, Peggy McCartney.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by sons, Richard E. McCartney and Zane B. McCartney and a sister, Helen Longacre.
She was employed in the tax office at the Mifflin County Courthouse and also worked for Dr. Leon Fagley.
Augusta was the oldest surviving member of Lewistown Presbyterian Church and was a member of Republic Women's Group.
Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 12, 2010, at Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown with the Reverend Robert Zorn officiating.
Interment will be in Lind Memorial Cemetery.
Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. Monday until the time of service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, her family request memorial contributions be made to Friends of Ohesson, 276 Green Ave., Lewistown, PA 17044
