Born November 12, 1900, at Neelyton, Huntingdon County, he was a son of the late Ellsworth and Amanda Cowan McCartney. Surviving are his wife, the former Augusta Bowman and two sons, Private First Class Zane McCartney, U.S. Army, France, and Richard McCartney at home.
Other survivors are two brothers and two sisters: Clinton McCartney, Altoona; John McCartney, Mount Union; Mrs. Miller (Mamie) Arnold, Richmond Furnace, Franklin County, Mrs. George (Minnie) Rhodes, Neelyton.
Mr. McCartney was a foreman at Haws Refractories plant, Lewistown Narrows. He attended services in Lewistown Presbyterian Church. He was a member of Fame Fire Company 2, Lewistown.
Friends may call at Barchus Funeral Home in Lewistown Thursday, 4 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted there Friday afternoon, 2 o'clock, by Rev. John G. Marvin, Lewistown Presbyterian Church. Burial will be made in William Lind Memorial Cemetery at Lewistown.
