Herman Gray Sr., 74, of the 1800 block of Azalea Ave., a barber, died March 19, 1995, in Portsmouth.
Mr. Gray was born in Green County, N.C., and was self-employed with Herman's Barber Shop. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Gilmerton and served on the Usher Board. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors include two daughters, Helen Gray and Eugenia Gray, both of Portsmouth; two sons, Reginald Gray of Portsmouth and Herman Gray Jr. of Jarratt, Va.; a brother, Jessie Gray of Portsmouth; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church, Gilmerton by the Rev. Edward Smith. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens . Viewing will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Serenity Funeral Home. Family and friends will assemble at 1422 Richmond Ave., Portsmouth, at 12:15 p.m. for the processional to the church.
