She was born May 26, 1912 in Meta, Mo. to Robert Ervin and Elsie Elizabeth (Mertell) Orr.
She married Rufus Denson New on November 26, 1933. Mrs. New sang with a gospel group in Lamar on the radio, and during World War II she worked at the LaJunta Air Base Nursery.
Mrs. New is survived by five sisters, Audra Jorgenson of Minnesota, Hilda (Clarende)Korolewski of Missouri, Myrtle Jean Peeper of Michigan, Imogene Egell of Virginia and Joyce (Loyd) Reyher of Texas, as well as numberous nieces and nepphews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Rufus, On Feb. 26, 1967, three sisters and three brothers.
Memorial donatons may be made to the Crowley County Nursing Center, 401 Idaho Avenue, Ordway, CO 80163 directly or through Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home and Crematorium, which is in charge of arrangements.

Graveside services for Ona Belle New, 92, of Ordway, formerly of La Junta were held on Monday, Nov. 15, 2004, at 2 p.m. at Fairmount Cemetery in Lamar. Visitation was held Monday, Nov. 15, 2004 from 10 a.m. to noon at Peacock Larsen Funeral Home in La Junta.
