BAXTER -- Funeral services for Betty J. Thompson Quarles, 60, of Baxter will be held tomorrow, Monday, Dec. 7, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Baxter Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Helms Cemetery on Highway 70.

Mrs. Quarles died Friday, Dec. 4, 1998 at her home.

She was born Feb. 2, 1938 in Putnam County and was the daughter of the late Edgar and Mallie (Helms) Thompson.

She was the manager of Kentucky Fried Chicken.

Her family includes two daughters and a son-in-law, Modena Thompson and Regina and Wayne Lawson, all of Baxter; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Bobby and Renee Thompson of Chattanooga and Earl Thompson of Baxter; a sister, Tommie Hargis of Ohio; four brothers, John Dow Thompson and Frank Thompson, both of Cookeville, Robert Thompson of California and E.H. Thompson of Michigan; and three grandchildren, Terry and Brandon Thompson and Sarah Williamson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Everette and Odell Thompson; and five sisters, Ruth Quarles, Myrtle Marlow, Vera Smallwood, Modena Bryant and Edith Thompson.

Bro. Gary Norton will officiate at the services and a eulogy will be given by J.R. Nash
