BAXTER -- Funeral services for Franklin D. (Poochie) Thompson, 63, of Cookeville, will be held at 11 a.m. on Thurs., Aug. 12, from the chapel of Baxter Funeral Home. Burial will be in Helms Cemetery in Baxter.

The family will receive friends after 6 p.m. today, Wed., Aug. 11, at the funeral home.

Mr. Thompson died on Mon., Aug. 9, 1999, at Stephens County Hospital in Toccoa, Ga.

He was born on Jan. 8, 1936, in Putnam County to the late Edgar and Mallie Helms Thompson. Mr. Thompson was a mechanic. He attended Living Hope Church in Cookeville.

His family includes his wife, Cassie Fields Thompson of Cookeville; a son, Frank Thompson Jr. of California; three daughters, Robin Allison of California, Rosemarie Moore of Florida, and Kim Davis of Georgia; a sister, Tommie Hargis of Ohio; three brothers, John Dow Thompson of Cookeville, E.H. Thompson of Michigan, and Robert Thompson of California; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Odell and Everett Thompson; and six sisters, Myrtle Marlow, Betty Jo Quarles, Ruth Quarles, Vera Smallwood, Modena and Edith Thompson.

Pallbearers will be nephews of Mr. Thompson.

Pastor Ron Allen will officiate at the services.
