Isla Maie Ervin Henderson Clark Clement

1922 - 2003

Isla Maie Ervin Clark Clement passed away at her home due to complications of kidney failure. She was surrounded by family members at the time of her death. She was born April 24, 1922, in White Oak Township, Onslow County, North Carolina, to Aquilla and Daisy Lilly Ervin and was educated in North Carolina schools, graduating in 1939.

She married Raymond Vernon Henderson in 1942; they had three daughters. They were later divorced. She and her daughters joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and moved to Provo, Utah, in 1958. As an accomplished seamstress, she was employed by JC Penney, Firmage's and Singer Company, sharing her talents and expertise with many people. In 1969, she married John Albert Clark in the Salt Lake Temple. They loved each other and shared many wonderful times together until his death in 1982. She served in the Arkansas Little Rock Mission from 1985-1986. This was a fulfillment of her desire to teach the gospel and she had special memories of that time in her life. In 1988, she married Richard Wilford Clement in the Provo Utah Temple, whom she loved and cared for until his death in 1998.

As an active member of the Church, Isla served in all auxiliaries, especially the Young Women organization which she particularly loved. She enjoyed her association with Yesharah, a returned lady missionary service organization, serving as president at one time. She especially enjoyed spending time in her flower garden and watching the beauties of nature during all the seasons. She loved cooking, sewing and sharing time with members of her family. Her greatest love was her family, enjoying many hours with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They could always count on her for loving counsel and advice.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, five sisters and a stepdaughter, Sharlene (Max) Prescott.

She is survived by her children, Gayle Henderson, Las Vegas, NV; Margo (Norman) Dye, Roosevelt, UT; Linda (Steven) Boyson, Hooper, UT; stepchildren: Gloria (Ray) Ostler, Orem, UT; Ken (Brenda) Clark, Sequim, WA; Steve (Jeanette) Clark, Pleasant Grove, UT; Earl (Jackie) Clark, Kennewick, WA; Blaine (Catherine) Clark, Rio Rancho, NM; Alan (Theresa) Clark, Pleasant Grove, UT; Carol Etta (Dean) Carroll, Evanston, WY; sisters: Mildred (William) Spruill, Kinston, NC; Carroll (Wallace) Campbell, Benicia, CA; 16 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Vista Care Hospice for their loving attention and care of our dear mother. Special thanks are also given to Provo Dialysis Center and staff for their love and support.
