Lincolnton - James G. Carnes, 91, 2406 Keener Road, died Jan. 19, 2001. He was a native of Lancaster County, S.C., son of the late James Marvin and Estelle Deese Carnes, and retired auto mechanic with Clark Tires. He is survived by his wife, Bertie Carnes; son, Richard Carnes, Lincolnton; daughters, Linda C. Cook, Lincolnton, Joyce C. Ramsey, Williamsburg, Va.; brothers, Curtis M. Carnes, Lincolnton, Marvin N. Carnes, Rutherford, George A. Carnes, Blacksburg, S.C.; sister, Ruby Liner, Gastonia; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, James N. Carnes; brothers, Ira, Roy, Claude and John Carnes; and sister, Christina Stanford. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Warlick Funeral Home, with Revs. O. David Shrum and Ron Hawkins officiating. Burial will be in Asbury United Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation is 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home.
