CEDAR RAPIDS – Allan Ramsey Wilson, 79, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, August 5, 2008, at St. Luke's Hospital after a sudden illness. Memorial services were Saturday, August 9, 2008, at Teahen Funeral Home by Pastor Jonna Jensen of Central City United Church of Christ. American Legion Hanford Post #5 presented military honors.

Allan was born January 8, 1929, in Traer, the son of Jay and Nellie Tomlinson Wilson. He was a Navy air controller in the Pacific Theater during the Korean Conflict. Allan married Gloria Danker on November 26, 1949, in Traer. He worked at Link-Belt Speeder/FMC Corporation for 30 years, starting out as welder and working his way up to a plant superintendent. Allan was a member of the Ripley Congregational Church of Traer, since 1941, Mt. Hermon Lodge #263 and American Legion Hanford Post #5 and RSVP. He was a volunteer at St. Luke's Hospital. Allan was an avid golfer, woodworker and an omnivorous reader. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, who will be greatly missed.

Allan is survived by his wife Gloria; a son Robert (Sara Jane) of Houston, Texas; two daughters; Diane (Reggie) Smith, of Orange City, Florida and Joan (Don) Gray, of Central City; three grandchildren; Ben Sebers, Maggie and Charlotte Wilson and several step-grandchildren; two sisters, Emma Jean (Bob) Altenhein of Cedar Falls and Isabel (Norman) Duquette of Kansas City, Kansas, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by parents; a brother Joe; a sister Nellie Mae Tigue; and a granddaughter Juliana Wilson.

Allan was an avid golfer, woodworker and an omnivorous reader. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, who will be greatly missed.
