Kenneth E. Bowton, 77, of 558 N. Jefferson died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2001, at Galesburg Cottage Hospital.

Born Aug. 30, 1924, in Canton to Floyd and Annie Cochrane Bowton, he married Mary Colwell on Nov. 10, 1947, in Canton. She died March 7, 2001.

He also was preceded in death by one son, James; and one brother.

Surviving are two sons, Albert Ward and Kent (and Becky) Bowton, both of Galesburg; and one daughter, Brenda (and Richard) McGarry of Galesburg.

A World War II Army veteran, he received a Silver Star and two Bronze Stars for his service at Guadalcanal, the Solomons, New Guinea and Luzon.

He had been a baker at Dobbin's Bakery in Canton for several years and then worked for the CB&Q Railroad for more than 10 years. He later was a warehouseman for Brown's Specialty in Galesburg for 20 years, retiring in 1986.

He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Chauffeurs and Warehousemen Local 15.

Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery.
