Ewell E. Achord, 79, of Homosassa, passed away on Tuesday, November the 23rd, 2010.
A native of Ponchatoula, Louisiana, he was retired from the Ideal Cement Plant in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and was a U.S. Air Force Veteran, having served as a Medic.
He was a member of the Faith Baptist Church in Homosassa and attended the Crystal River United Methodist Church, where he served as a Volunteer with the Fellowship Moments and the Alpha Class. He also served on the Recycling Committee of the Crystal River Womans Club as a Volunteer.
He is survived by his daughter, Connie Barnes, of Ponchatoula; a brother, Merlin Achord, of Ponchatoula; two sisters, Louise Easley, of Mereaux, Louisiana, and Betty Thompson, of Folsom, Louisiana.
Funeral Services and interment in the Ponchatoula Cemetery are under the Direction of the McNealy Funeral Home in Ponchatoula. Local arrangements are by the Strickland Funeral Home of Crystal River, with a gathering of friends at 12:00 noon, Dec. 12, at the Crystal River United Methodist Church in a tribute to his life. Friends are invited to attend and bring a covered dish to share following the memorial tribute planned by his special friend, Ruth Levins, and his United Methodist Church family.
