Betty Achord Thompson passed away peacefully while surrounded by her family on Friday, May 4, 2012, at age 74 years. She was the beloved wife of Kemp "Junior" Thompson for 60 years and 4 days. Even though he knows he was blessed to have Betty for those years, he says that was not enough time.
Betty was the loving mother of Billy Thompson (Wanda), Elizabeth Thompson Taylor (Tasso "Tiger"), Sharon Thompson Blackwell (James) and Amy Thompson Bennett (Daniel).
Betty was the cherished grandmother - "Nanny" - of Derek (Jenna), Ryan, Dana, Tasso (Amy), Jessica (Scotty), Stephanie (Justin), Becky (James), Jamie, Justin, and Christian.
Betty was the treasured great grandmother of Shelby, William, Austin, Ava, Addy, Justin, Caitlyn, Sara, Mary, Caleb, Derek Paul, and preceded in death by Ryan, Jr.
Betty was the daughter of the late Johnnie and Eula Achord of Ponchatoula. She was the sister of Louise Achord Easley and Thomas Merlin Achord. She was preceded in death by brothers Dean "Butch" Achord, Leon Achord, Euell Achord and Hurley Achord.
She was a lifelong resident of Folsom. She enjoyed reading, traveling, gardening, cooking, and she loved her family more than life.
