Kate D. Leeper, 52 of Fernandina Beach, FL, went to her heavenly home with Jesus Christ on Sunday morning, November 21, 2010 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She had fought bravely the battle of breast cancer. A native of Nicholls, Georgia she was the daughter of the late Jude and Elizabeth Davis. She grew up in Nicholls and graduated in the Class of 1976 at Nicholls High School. She enrolled at Albany State College in Albany, Ga. and graduated with her Master's Degree in Nursing. She interned at Baptist Hospital Jacksonville, Fl. and became a Registered Nurse working with hospitals in South Carolina for several years. She came back to Jacksonville and worked at the Mayo Clinic. On a blind date, she met Danny Leeper and they married in 1994. Moving to Fernandina Beach, she worked with the doctors at Amelia Internal Medicine. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. She leaves behind her husband, Danny Leeper, her daughter Danielle Leeper, her brothers, Drue Davis (Mary) of Burkburnett, TX. and Bobby Davis of Nicholls, Ga., her sister Susie Hamilton (Don) of Nicholls, Ga. and her father and mother-in- laws, Joe and Alberta Leeper of Fernandina Beach, Fl, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends. Her sister, Judy Hursey passed away in 1999. The family received friends from 4 P.M.-6 P.M. on Thursday at Oxley- Heard Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life service was held at 11:00 A.M. Friday at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Overton, officiating. Her favorite songs of worship were sung at the service: "Revelation Song", "I Will Rise", "In Christ Alone", and "Amazing Grace My Chains Are Gone". She was laid to rest in Bosque Bello Cemetery on Amelia Island, FL.
