Served with Co. C Texas Rangers during the war for Southern Independance of 1861-65 (AKA The Civil War)
After the war is stayed in Texas and became a Local Law officer with the post war Texas Rangers until the late 1890s
when he gave it up and moved to Missouri to retire and to live with his daughter.
He was admited to the Confederate Veterans home in July of 1915 and died there on Oct. 18th 1923 of old age at 87 years of age. The attached photo of Joseph C-1870s is courtesy of the Edwards family of Higginsville Mo. who were kind enough to send me a scan of their Great Granddads photo taken in San Antonio TX in the 1870s Note the Law Mans badge. The photo of his grave & cemetery were taken in Sept. 2001
