She was both a paternal great grandmother and great grand aunt, technically speaking, to me, although she is thought of as a great grandmother. She was born in Selma Alabama, one of 15 children, all of whom survived to adulthood. Her family moved to near McKinney Texas by 1879, where they lived for about 10 years before moving to just south of Bullard Texas. She married her first cousin, Dr. U. G. M. Walker in 1893, and they had 4 children. After he obtained his MD around 1901, they lived in Noonday for several years before settling in Flint in 1908, where they would reside the rest of their lives. According to multiple newspaper clippings, she had a fairly active social life. As far as I know, she never worked outside of the home. She died at the Walker Homestead in Flint in 1948 of complications from a stroke and heart disease. If anyone has any pictures or information about her and her family, please contact me.
