Here's an extract from the Regiment's history:
"By the end of October the Regiment had gained its first battle honours: Retreat from Mons, Marne 1914, Aisne 1914 and Armentieres 1914. It had also suffered its first casualties: in addition to Trooper Moore and Lieutenant Combe, two other men, Trooper the Honourable Harry St G L Scott and Corporal Edmond Buchanan, a Donegal man, lost their lives during October 1914 while many others were wounded."
