Gaar, deputy in the Rapides Parish assessor's office, died at 4 a.m. Saturday in his residence. He was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Dugger Gaar of Alexandria; a son, David C. Gaar Jr. of Monroe; a daughter, Margaret Coker of Hazlewood, Mo.; a step-daughter, Idella Ruth Wooley of Monroe; a brother, M. W. Gaar of Lecompte; a sister, Camille Wall of Alexandria; and three grandchildren.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. today.
