Gaar, 67, of Route 2, Lecompte, died at 8:35 p.m. Friday in St. Frances Cabrini Hospital.
Gaar was a charter member of Horseshoe Drive Methodist Church. He was a native of Dodson and a retired state representative for Dairyman Inc. of Lafayette. He was also employed by Continental Trailways and Walker Farms. After his retirement, he worked as a security guard at P.S.I. in Alexandria.
Survivors include his wife, Mary T. Gaar of Lecompte; four sons, Massey Gaar Jr. of Baton Rouge, Burton Gaar of Lecompte, Jack Gaar of Miami Beach, Fla., and John Gaar of Alexandria; one daughter, Mary Virginia Myers of Lecompte; one sister, Camille Wall of Alexandria; and six grandchildren.
