Born Dec. 25, 1927, in Bath to Irvin and Edith Lippert Smith, he married Fauntella "PeeWee" High on July 25, 1953, in Peoria. She survives.
Also surviving are one brother, Charles of Princeville; and one sister, Ina Chapman of Williamston, Mich.
Four sisters and six brothers preceded him in death.
He was a supervisor at Illinois Power in Havana for 10 years and for the company in Wood River for 32 years. He retired in 1989.
He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Havana.
Burial will be in Bath Cemetery.
