Gerson
Mrs. Betty Jane Gerson, 74, of White Hall died Wednesday, March 6, at Boyd Memorial Hospital.
She was born May 2, 1927, in Carrollton, the daughter of John and Lora (Wood) Gillingham Sr. She married Otis Gerson Oct. 14, 1967, in Carrollton, and he died in 1987.
Surviving are five sisters, Mary "Pete" Chapman, Louise Scheffel, Mrs. Fred (Neoma) Schmidt and Mrs. Gerald (JoAnn) Roth, all of Carrollton, and Mrs. Richard (Darlene) Carmean of Roodhouse; three brothers, Harry (wife Mildred) Gillingham and Neal (wife Pat) Gillingham of Carrollton, and John (wife Lois) Gillingham Jr. of White Hall; and several nieces and nephews,
Preceding her in death was a brother, Willis Gillingham; and a sister, Lillian Helderman.
Mrs. Gerson was a housekeeper and member of the Carrollton First Presbyterian Church, but also attended the Eldred Baptist Church and later the Carrollton First Baptist Church.
Visitation was from 9 a.m. Friday at Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Carrollton, until service time at 11 a.m. with Richard Gillingham officiating. Organist Diane Wolfley played several prelude and postlude selections.
Casketbearers were Richard Gillingham, Bob Gillingham, John Darr, John Vinyard, Leroy Robinson and David Carter. Burial was at Eldred Memorial Gardens.
