E. Neal Gillingham age 98 of Carrollton passed away Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at Boyd Memorial Hospital in Carrollton. He was born October 16, 1924 in Carrollton, the son of John and Lora Wood Gillingham. He married Patricia Short September 3, 1950 in Carrollton and she preceded him in death Jan 14, 2021.

He is survived by two sons, Richard (Becky) Gillingham of Carrollton, David (Jann) Gillingham of Belleville, three grandchildren, Kara (Brian) Short, Mark (Corie) and Luke (Maddie) Gillingham, two step grandchildren, Ryan (Kate) and Kyle (Sean) Blaha, seven great grandchildren, Ava, Aden, and Maclin Short, Collins and Miller Gillingham, Maddox, Mabry, and Annie Blaha, a sister Darlene Carmean, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three brothers, Willis, Harry, and John Jr. Gillingham, six sisters, Lillian Helderman, Mary Hetelle, Neoma Schmidt, Louise Scheffel, JoAnn Roth, and Betty Gerson.

Neal served in the United States Navy during WWII and the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He drove a truck for Gillingham Oil Company in Carrollton for many years. He also drove a bus for Carrollton School District and retired from the Greene County National Bank as assistant Vice President. Neal served as treasurer for several organizations in the Carrollton community including, the Carrollton Lions Club, March of Dimes, Chamber of Commerce, and the Booster Club. He was a member of the Stuart Pierson Masonic Lodge in Carrollton for many years and the Carrollton First Baptist Church. He loved to raise cattle on his farm southeast of Eldred. Neal enjoyed attending his family's sporting events and get togethers.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 14, 2023 at Carrollton First Baptist Church in Carrollton with burial to follow in Carrollton City Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be from 1:00 -4:00 p.m. Sunday at the church with masonic rites at 3:45 p.m.

Memorials may be made to Boyd Hospital, First Baptist Church, or Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Carrollton is in charge of arrangements.
