Rebecca Jane Butcher of Downingtown

Rebecca Jane Butcher, wife of the late Robert Butcher and daughter of the late Reverend Thomas Wesley and Nettie May Flowers, was summoned to eternal rest on November 12, 2010.

Rebecca was born in Fisherville and grew up in Downingtown. The oldest of 11 siblings (eight sisters and three brothers), many lovingly knew her as "Jane" or "Bun".

Church for more than 40 years. She served on the Usher Board, Choir, Missionary Board, Stewardess Board, and as Pastor's Stewart. She also baked some of the most delicious cakes in Chester County.

Predeceased by a son, Robert Butcher, Jr., Rebecca leaves behind a daughter Geraldine Johnson of Downingtown, Pa; five sisters and one brother: Dorothy Johnson, wife of Paul Johnson, Esther Harvey, wife of Maitland Harvey, Ruth Miller, and Barbara Westmoreland, all of Coatesville, Pa., Jacqueline Hunt of Downingtown, Pa. and Gordon Flowers, husband of Sheena Flowers of Coatesville, Pa., five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, 47 nieces and nephews; over 100 great nieces and nephews and a host of many other loving relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 19, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. from the Mount Raymond U.A.M.E. Church, 341 Stuart Avenue, Downingtown. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Friday morning from 9 until 10:45 a.m.
