"As A young Child he spent many hours in his birthplace of Odell Texas and around Doans Crossing, He loved to ride his Horse from His Dad's Farm to his older Brother's (James Leonard Mayo) house or His older sisters (Katie Ann Eldorado Mayo Tucker) House Near Hess Okla, crossing the Red River at Doans Crossing. He Was a True Cowboy, he was known as the best roper in the county. To earn money as a young boy he drove a team of mule's plowing farm land, broke Horse's,ragged out colt's, Bucked hay,Traded Dog's/Mules and sold chicken's, Branded and all that kinda stuff. He Rode a Horse to School in Odell all of his school years. My Dad was not one to brag on himself on how tough he was or how good he was at anything, he always said if you have to talk about yourself. it must be you that needs convincing , for if you are good other's will take notice. He and his brother's never started a fight but sure never walked away from one either. Bethel Bryant Mayo Married Phateamae Lamoin Hill, In Pampa, Texas on 22-Mar- 1934, After the wedding he and my mother moved to Odell Texas where, During those early years of their marriage he Worked in the Bakery for my grandad Hill as a Baker, Bread delivery Driver, also drove around the country collecting money from Jute boxes for my grandad Hill' Later he worked for THE RAILWAY EXPRESS AGENCY as a guard on the trains and then went to work for Santa Fe Railroad, Then Back to Ranch work,. Waggoner, Big 4 to name a few. then later in life he worked in cotton gin's as a ginner. He worked for Dr. Pepper and Pepsi as a salesman in the mid 50's between ginning seasons and at the last he worked as a welder on pipe line's where he was severely injured one day when a pipe was dropped on him. MY dad was the hardest working person i have know in my life, His devotion to supporting his family was above reproach. He loved my mother with all of his heart, He loved his family and spent his life taking care of them . He taught us to love our family above all other's on earth to always be honest, be lawful and show respect to my mother and Him, he said this is the true mark of a Man. Just a tid bit for those who didnt know he loved his dad beyond belief but he was a momma's boy, it is said that his mother and sister's spoiled him rotten, His brother's toughened him up, just thought i would throw that bit of info in here HE WAS A MEMBER OF THE ASSEMBLY OF GOD CHURCH IN BOWIE TEXAS His un-wavering devotion and love for God was his strength, after he turned his life over to God! He Looked For A City Which Hath Foundations Whose Builder And Maker Is God. Occupation: Retired Ginner"
