"Gabriel was born on April 17,1843 and lived in Oak Grove, Jackson Co, MO. He joined Quantrill in Feb of 1862 and was killed by the UNION Cavalry on Feb 22 in an ambush in Independence Mo. He was only 18 when he died. Quantrill attended his funeral using a cane because of an wound to his leg received in the same battle. Gabriel was one of the first of Quantrill's men to be killed...the name Gabriel means MAN OF GOD."
