Surviving with his wife are one son, Newell Clifton of Bedford, IN; one sister, Clone Quackenbush of Indianapolis; three grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Grace Clifton (his twin) and Fern Ison, and one grandson, Jeff Clifton.
He was a retired school teacher, having taught for 25 years in Martin, Lawrence, Orange, and Tipton counties in Indiana. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving as a sergeant during World War II.
Services for Claude Clifton will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 28th, at Cresthaven Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens with military graveside rites accorded by members of the American Legion Hanson McFee Post #61 of Shoals, IN. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Cresthaven Funeral Home, where the Masonic Memorial service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Sunday evening. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Bedford.
