Steven served in the Marine Corps as an ONTOS Crewman with A Company, 5th Antitank Battalion, 3rd MARDIV. His platoon was attacked in the Quang Tri Province southwest of the Dong Ha airfield. It resulted in 2 men killed and 4 wounded. Steven was survived by his parents, a younger sister and 2 brothers - one of whom was serving in the Army in Vietnam at that time.
