Mrs. Katherine McElroy, 78, of 808 Orange street, died at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Muscatine General hospital after a brief illness. She was born Aug. 30, 1883 in Muscatine county, a daughter of Julias and Mary Phoebe Irwin Welsch and had been a life resident of the community. She was married to Glen McElroy at New Era in 1904. Mrs. McElroy was of the Lutheran faith. She is survived by two sons, Vaughn McElroy of Bettendorf and Earl McElroy of Billings, Mont.; a daughter, Mrs. Raymond Tobias of Muscatine; a half-brother, Fred Welsch of Muscatine; two sisters Mrs. Mary DuBois of Ottumwa and Mrs. Bessie Cawiezel of Davenport; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her husband, a daughter, two brothers and two sisters. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at the Ralph J. Wittich Funeral Home by Intern Allen Wahl. Burial will be at Parr cemetery.
