She was the daughter of William and Mary Brinson Dixon of NC. She was the wife of John D. Warner Jr, a Sherriff of Bedford County, TN, in 1815. They were married on November 11, 1810. John was also a census taker, and he died in 1834. This left Eunice to raise her four young sons and two daughters. Then, at her daughter's death she was left with three Wilhoite grandchildren when their mother, Huldah Brinson Warner Wilhoite had died. Her son Richard, died the year after her husband John, and her son Will, died five years after John's death. By 1850 she also had in her care her niece, Amanda M. Dixon, whose mother had died. And also, in her charge was Benjamin Smith, her brother-in-law, in his 70's, whose wife Keziah Dixon Smith had died. Keziah was Eunice's sister. Amanda's father, Harry Dixon, was the son of Matthew Dixon, Eunice's brother. Eunice was the youngest sister of; Jedediah, Josiah, Anny (Perry), Keziah (Smith), Matthew, and John. Both Eunice and her brother John, each named a daughter with the middle name Brinson. And Eunice's brother Jedediah, married Nancy Brinson. What a lady she must have been to have given so much of herself for these family members. Finding her grave in 2014 was quite a challenge, for it was completely grown over with brush and trees, on a lane behind a locked gate on Warner Bridge road near Fishing Ford Rd. There are many of her family graves in the little cemetery and is being cleared and restored. Eunice is the mother of Anna Adaline Warner Wilhoite Robinson, who is the mother of John Benton Wilhoite. His daughter Adeline Wilhoite married Henry Hollis Horton, Governor of Tennessee, 1928-1934. These are well memorialized in Wilhoite Cemetery, Chapel Hill, Marshall County, TN., Henry Horton State Park.
Eunice Dixon, NC, and John Warner Jr., TN, were the parents of Samuel Josiah, John Muse, Mary Eunice (Rutledge), Huldah Brinson (Wilhoite), Anna Adaline (Wilhoite-Robinson), William Dixson Warner, Perdy Van Buren Warner, and Richard Jackson Warner. Some of her children died before she did.
It was a privilege to find and photograph her gravestone and those of her family, to finally be in a place of honor here on Find A Grave. Thank you, fourth great Aunt Eunice for all you have done for your family. GenealogyJoan, 5th Great niece.
