The only daughter of French-born Judge J.B.C. Lucas, Anne was married to Captain Theodore P. Hunt, U.S.N. who went into business with fur trader Manuel Lisa. Four years after Theodore's death in 1832, Anne married his cousin Wilson P. Hunt, a partner of John Jacob Astor. Mrs. Hunt gave more than a million dollars to charity. The Convent of the Good Shepherd was financed with funds provided by her. Another of her favorite charities was The Little Sisters of the Poor. She also gave much land & money to other religious & civic organizations. Her likeness, as well of that of both her husbands, appears over the door of the crypt in the mausoleum.
