Inquest Upon Blackburn.
Last night the Coroner held an inquest at the morgue of Barton & Catick upon the remains of W. T. Blackburn, the Santa Fe bridge carpenter, who met death Wednesday afternoon by being run over in the Santa Fe yards by a freight train. The verdict was that the deceased alone was responsible for the accident.]
But two witnesses were examined, Alvin Nelson, switchman, and Albert Knight, foreman of the bridge crew of which Blackburn was a member.
Knight was the first person to reach the injured man, and to him, Blackburn made a dying statement. He explained that he had gone between the cars for a moment, and was just about to step from them, when he was thrown down and run over.

OBITUARY
The funeral of William T. Blackburn, the Santa Fe yardman who met a tragic death Wednesday afternoon took place this afternoon, at 2:30 o'clock, from the chapel of Barton & Catick. Rev. Mark Shaw conducted the services, which were under the auspices of Phoenix lodge, No. 178, F. and A.M. There was a profusion of beautiful floral offerings from the dead man's associates in the Santa Fe yards and shops and his brother Masons.
Blackburn leaves a wife and five children. Three of these are girls and two boys. They have their little home at orbit, but aside from this nothing, as he carried no insurance.
