Pembroke - Meady Clifton Beasley Sr., 68, died at his residence Thursday after a long illness.

He was a native of Treutlen County, a veteran of World War II, a member of the Pembroke Holy Church of God and was a retired maintenance foreman for the Department of Transportation.

Survivors include his wife, Estell Powell Beasley of Pembroke; five sons, Meady C. Beasley Jr., Leroy Beasley, Bernice Beasley, and Lester Beasley, all of Pembroke, and Jerry Beasley of Savannah; a daughter, Jeanette Smith of Pembroke; a sister, Betty White of Soperton; 19 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Pembroke Holy Church of God with the Rev. Laurence Butler and the Rev. C. M. Butler presiding. Burial, with military honors, will be at North Side Cemetery.
